America’s Criminal Justice System is Prolonging the Nation’s Fight Against Drug Use

In this opinion article written for my media writing course, I explore a new take on the nation’s fight against opioid use. Inspired by journalist Beth Macy’s book “Dopesick: Dealers, Doctors and the Drug Company that Addicted America” and hit Hulu show “Dopesick,” I interviewed several psychologists and psychology professors specialized in addiction to dive deeper into America’s drug problem.

The research I gathered led me to form a new viewpoint on the opioid addiction in the United States that I hope more Americans will be open to learning about.

Once we can truly understand the issue as a nation, perhaps we can change the issue as a nation.
